C.J. Gavsie was appointed Co-Head of Global Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC) in March 2015. In this role, he has responsibility for leveraging credit and capital capacity across BMO Capital Markets trading businesses to ensure the delivery of optimal solutions and to drive increased profitability and efficiency for our clients.
Previously, C.J. was Global Head of Foreign Exchange Products & China Capital Markets where he oversaw global foreign exchange operations of BMO Capital Markets in Canada, the United States, Europe and China.
After joining BMO in 1996, C.J. progressed through various roles in Foreign Exchange. In 2005 he was appointed Head of Canadian FX Sales with responsibility for covering BMO’s corporate, institutional and mid-cap client base as well as BMO’s Personal and Commercial banking division. In 2009 C.J. assumed responsibility for BMO’s FX initiative in China and Hong Kong.
C.J. currently serves on the BMO Capital Markets Executive, Management, and Performance Committees, and on the Bank of Canada’s Canadian Foreign Exchange Committee. He is a co-chair on the Toronto Financial Services Alliance (TFSA) RMB working group, a cabinet member of the United Way’s Major Gifts Campaign, and is on the leadership advisory board for W.I.S.E. (Women in a Supported Environment) group.
C.J. holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Ottawa and is a graduate of the Directors Education Program of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD).
