Standard 006 Cheque Specifications
- Numeric date fields must appear in one of three specified formats - YYYYMMDD, MMDDYYYY or DDMMYYYY
- A serial number in the MICR line must be encoded on cheque bottom
- Minimum width increases from 6” to 6.25” (15.88 cm) to accommodate serial number
- Standardized positions for key fields
- Phase-out of elements that do not image well, such as inverse printing, slanted fonts, borders printed below MICR line, or black carbon on reverse side
- A provision ensuring that security features do not interfere with key data
- New printing requirements set for the reverse side
